A child's birthday

I decided to make a card for Celebrate the Occasion's Challenge #1 to make something related to a child's birthday. I have a weird sense of humor and when I saw the cute lion on the Cricut Sampler cart I couldn't resist. It will be hilarious hearing the parent explain what "No lion" means. I can just hear the child saying "...but there IS a lion". Hehehe! Anyway, all of the paper and cardstock is from my scrap stash. For the A2 size card, I cut the lion out at 3.25" and the shadow at the same. I used the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder for the background and the sentiment I printed with my computer. Heritage Birthday Card and Challenges

Tomorrow my husband and I will be going to his aunt's 101st birthday party. Woohoo! I decided to make her a card and also enter the card in a couple of challenges. I saw a luminary Edna from Create With Expression made using the Heritage cartridge and I decided I need to finally put that cartridge to use. Robyn over at  My Pink Stamper is having a blog hop and a challenge. The challenge was to create a project using black and your favorite colors. I love black, red and white together so this was perfect. Also Cuttlebug Spot is having a challenge using a step card so I was able to combine all 3 into one card that I love. I just hope Thom's Aunt Vina loves it too. This card is 4.25" x 5.5" using Colorbok textured white and black cardstock. The red is from DCWV's premium cardstock matstack Brights & Jewels and I ran the side panels thru the Cuttlebug with a Cindy Loo folder. St Patrick's Day Card

I've been wanting to use the Simply Charmed cartridge, but it just hasn't been right for the cards I've been creating. Well this week's challenge over at Scrappy Moms Stamps was to use this cartridge. It seemed like the perfect time to make a St. Paddy's Day card. I'm also entering it in the Throwback Thursday's Challenge 175 over at My Creative Time. I only used cardstock and paper from my scrap stash, making an A2 card opening on the side. I used one of the Cindy Loo Cuttlebug folders to dry emboss the white background. I cut the leprechaun out at 3.5" and also used the shadow feature. I wasn't happy with the way his jacket looked so I added lines for a lapel, front and drew a little pocket flap. The sentiment I printed from my computer using the Ales and Wenches font. Less is More Challenge Thank You Card

I found this great new blog that focuses on "less is more" from Danielle at Danielle's Corner Office. There are some fabulous cards created this week. I absolutely adore them. To see the blog and this week's submissions click here. Here's my first attempt. I had a hard time limiting the elements but I think it turned out okay. We had to use the colors pink, black, and white. I just used plain white cardstock, added stitched ribbon from Michael's, my Fiskars weave border punch and Thanks stamp with black Stazon ink and the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. My Pink Stamper Challenge

Robyn over at MPS is having a challenge and it is perfect for making a card for my friend that lives far away. Becca is so much fun and we always have a great time when we are together. I can't wait to get this sweet little card in the mail to her tomorrow. For the base I used a springy floral cardstock that I purchased in a stack at a fundraiser for United Way. The card ended up being 4.75" x 5.75". Since I haven't purchased MPS stamps yet (I love them and need them) I added a handwritten sentiment on 1" strip of coordinating paper near the bottom then attached two cute hot pink brads by Recollections. I had recently purchased the We R Memory Keepers paper piercer and brad setter and finally used it for the first time. It worked so easy even I couldn't believe it. The birds and banner were cut from Give a Hoot cart and the paper is from The Paper Company. Thanks for stopping by.

Valentine's Day Shutter Card

Made this card for my hubby for Valentine's Day. This was my first shutter card and I was surprised at how easy it was. I decided to enter it in the Cricut Cardz Challenge #60 which was to make a Valentine's Day card for a man, using any cartridge and any colors, The Cuttlebug Spot's Valentine Tri-Fold Card Challenge to make a non-traditional Valentine card and also Cooking with Cricut's challenge to make a project with a shadow. I used the DCWV Cardstock Stack chocolate cardstock for the base and a DCWV Designer Blue Jeans Stack for the card embellishment. The card was cut at 5 1/2 x 12 and after folding is 5 1/2 x 4, so almost an A2 and will fit in an A2 envelope. I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge for the heart and cut it out at 3" in the red and 3" in the chocolate using the shadow function. I don't have any Valentine's Day stamps so I just hand wrote the sentiments. Thanks for stopping by.
