A Day of Firsts! (and Cricut Cardz Challenge #58)

My Gypsy and Design Studio software were delivered on Tuesday, so I thought I'd put it to use. Here is the first card I've made using Design Studio and then transferring to the Gypsy to cut. It's also the first card I've designed on my own without following a design already created in the Cricut booklets. I used white cardstock from the Paper Company for the A2 base. The blue background was cut from the DCWV matstack called the immortal love. I used the snowflake Cuttlebug folder to dry emboss and then sanded the surface so the white core would show thru. The white snowman and the red trim were also from this matstack. The polka dot hat, carrot nose and brown snowman base were all from cardstock I've had for a while. The snowman (cut at 3 1/2") and Brrr! are from Winter Frolic, the Happy Day is from Gypsy font. The ribbon is Offray Straight and Narrow that I picked up from Michaels. I'm really happy with the way this turned out. I submitted this to the CricutCardzChallenge #58, to see more click Here. Thanks for stopping by.

Brenda's Birthday (Shadow)Box

I made this shadow box design for my friend's birthday next week. All the cardstock I used is from DCWV Cotton Bloom Stack. I love every sheet in that pack, they are awesome! I bought the shadow box on sale at Michael's. The font is one I created with SCAL2 with both a regular font and a blackout feature. I cut each letter out of chipboard, then two colors each font, with opposite colors for the first letter. The sunglasses are cut from the Forever Young cartridge with black fun foam for the lenses. BTW, the Cricut cut the fun foam easy peasy. The sun is really a flower from Forever Young that I cut from three different colors from the stack and attached with 3D Zots. Brenda loves the sun, so I'm hoping she will like this. Thanks for stopping by.

Cards for Charlie

Fellow Cricut lover Angela posted on her blog requesting cards be sent to a seriously ill boy in Minneapolis. Click Here to read her blog post. Here's a quick card I made and will be sending out tomorrow morning. I used the "Just Because" cartridge and some cardstock I've had for quite a while.

MPS Blog Hop Challenge

Welcome to my very first blog post at Christy Blade Handmade. I got an Expression on Black Friday and have been addicted since I opened the box. One of the first youtube videos I came across was Robyn's from My Pink Stamper. I think I've probably viewed all her videos by now and read all her blog posts. I've ordered DS and a Gypsy, both should be delivered next Tuesday. I can't wait. After visiting all the sites on the blog hop (Click Here), I decided to take the plunge, create a blog and participate. My friends' daughter just got her learner's premit, so I made this cute card to send to her. It is from the Just Because cards cartridge. When I finished the card, it looked like it was still missing something, so I added a HUGE sun from Graphically Speaking. All the paper and cardstock I used was from either K&Company, Colorbok or The Paper Company. I also added white cardstock inside with "is only half the fun" handwritten. I can't wait to order some of the MPS stamps, they are too cute. Leave me a comment if you like the card.
